Our "leaders" are also obtuse. This wouldn't matter if people didn't happen to follow their leaders.

The elephant in the room is probably secession. If you are convinced all our key organizations are captured and/or all our key leaders are obtuse, what do you do? Shrug your shoulders and say, "okay then." Or do you say, "No thank you; we're opting out of this program. Good luck to you, though."
